Seeking a suitably experienced Engineering and Maintenance Manager located at the Fremantle Port as part of the management team and working closely with the Terminal Manager. With proven managerial experience within a heavy industrial work environment, your leadership and management skills will be the key to the success of this role. The responsibilities of this position include the repair and maintenance of critical terminal equipment and facilities, as well as collaboration with the National Engineering team to shape the strategic direction of major assets.
Possessing tertiary qualifications in mechanical and/or electrical engineering, backed by a track record in engineering and maintenance management within the heavy engineering/industrial sector. Your focus on OH&S, expertise in preventive maintenance systems, leadership of the engineering department, and financial acumen are required in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the maintenance department adhere to the organisations OH&S policies and procedures and identifying enhancements to the existing safety culture.
- Mentor and develop individuals within the heavy industrial maintenance operations.
- Implement systems and procedures to manage internal and external maintenance contractors.
- Continuous improvement of preventive maintenance systems and processes.
- Manage assets in compliance with all relevant statutory and OEM requirements.
- Manage maintenance projects and integrate new assets with existing assets.
- Lead initiatives to boost Planned Maintenance levels through proactive and preventive practices and provide recommendations for improvements in the national asset strategy.
- Develop systems and processes to monitor maintenance expenditure, reliability, safety, and plant integrity.
- Manage maintenance work order backlogs effectively to maintain acceptable levels and minimise risk to terminal operations.
Key Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
- Proven experience in a heavy engineering/ industrial environment.
- Knowledge of Contract Management processes.
- Experience in managing work teams in a unionised environment is beneficial.
- Solid OH&S policies and procedures experience and knowledge.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Sound negotiation skills.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication, as well as interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in report writing and record-keeping.
- Additionally, you must be eligible to obtain an MSIC (Maritime Security Identification Card).
