Due to an upcoming period of extended leave within the safety team, our client is seeking a capable and hands-on OH&S Officer to support the OH&S Manager within an industry-leading mining vehicle manufacturing environment. This is a 3-6 month contract role, with the potential to transition into a permanent position for the right person.
This is a great opportunity to join a well-established organisation of approximately 130 staff, operating within a strong safety culture and high-performing manufacturing environment. The role offers genuine flexibility, with options for either 3 days per week or school-hour arrangements, making it ideal for someone seeking work-life balance while still contributing meaningfully to a busy operational setting.
You will play a key role in supporting the safety function during a critical period for the business, assisting with compliance, safety systems, audits, and day-to-day WHS activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct workplace safety investigations and support incident reporting, including follow-up actions and close-out
- Undertake internal safety audits and workplace inspections across manufacturing operations
- Maintain and update SWMS, procedures, and WHS documentation to ensure ongoing compliance
- Support quality assurance and safety compliance activities across all site operations
- Assist with general WHS administration and record keeping using Employment Hero
- Liaise with supervisors, managers, and employees to ensure safe work practices are consistently applied
Key Requirements
- Previous experience in an OH&S / WHS role, ideally within manufacturing, transport, or similar environments
- Demonstrated experience in incident investigation and safety audits
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, compliance requirements, and safe work systems
- Ability to develop, review, and maintain SWMS and safety documentation
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage operational teams
- Relevant WHS qualification (Certificate IV or higher desirable, or equivalent experience)
This is an excellent opportunity for an OH&S professional seeking a flexible contract role within a reputable and growing manufacturing business. If you are available for a 3-6 month assignment and are looking for a hands-on safety role where you can make an immediate impact, we encourage you to apply.
